Take part in one of the world’s most exhilarating and exciting marathons, and run through all 5 boroughs of the big apple: Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx and Manhattan. Over 30,000 runners participate each year and with thousands of spectators cheering you on, the atmosphere is just electric!

This year we need to raise £3.9 million to fund the service of our two helicopters. Supporting us in the New York City Marathon is a tremendous way to help us to achieve our goal.

Choose which option you would like below and get in touch today. PLEASE NOTE: We do not provide any race entries by themselves. We only have race entries alongside a travel option. The entry fee for 2010 is £299 but if you sign up before the 31st January, the fee is £249. Approximate costs below include the entry fee at £249.

The PUMA Coniston Trail Race and PUMA Coniston Challenge is a 15km course through some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in the Lake District
This year we return to John Ruskin School for our start & finish venue.
Starting and finishing at John Ruskin School in Coniston village, the 15km circuit along well marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways takes in panoramic views of Lake Coniston and the surrounding peaks of the Old Man, Swirl How, Wetherlam and Dow Crags.

Underfoot conditions are generally good for those used to off road running, although there is one short 200m section after approx 4km which only agile mountain goats will be able to run.

There are children's Fun Trails too for under 12's - short laps around the finish arena for all abilities. Every finisher gets a specially engraved medal, and there are spot prizes too.

The North West Air Ambulance charity and the Firefighters charity have come together to hold our first Ladies Driving Challenge at Oulton Park in Cheshire on the 26th September 2010.

This is the opportunity to have the drive of your life and get behind the wheel of a variety of vehicles, including construction vehicles, lorries, and of course, fire engines, as well as many more!

Ladies - this is the chance you've been waiting for! It's an ideal event for a girls day out and guys this could be a great gift for the adventurous lady in your life. For all you fundraisers our there, what a way to raise money and have fun at the same time!

Registration is £10, with a minimum of £90 in sponsorship to raise. There will be prizes for the highest fundraisers and the promise of a great day for all. On the day there will be family stalls, a static vehicle display and a chance to have a close look at the Air Ambulance Helicopter and to meet with the crew.

Charity Climb up Mt Kilimanjaro in Aid of North West Air Ambulance followed by celebration dinner

6 local lads are undertaking this climb in memory of George, the son of one of the climbers, Jonathan Higginson. George was knocked off his bike on 13th August 2009, but sadly died the following day as a result of his injuries. His parents Jonathan & Sarah carried out his wishes for him to be an organ donor. The NW Air Ambulance airlifted George to Preston hospital and because this was done, time being of the essence, George was able to donate the ‘precious gift of life’.

On their return, there will be a victory fund raising celebration on Saturday 11th September, 2010 at the Wright & Lord Function Suite, Globe Arena, new home of Morecambe Football Club. The evening will include a 3 course meal, entertainment, raffle and a grand auction. Fancy an interesting and scenic walk which is suitable for anyone?

Then come and join us on the 2010 Walk4Charity in Southport on Sunday 5th September. This event has been organised by the Rotary Club of Southport and we need your support to help raise sponsorship.

The route passes through some of Southport's most tranquil and scenic areas, including parks and gardens, alongside golf courses, the sea wall, residential roads and around the marine lake (with lots of birds and boating activity to watch).

Because there are no steps and only a few gentle slopes, it's ideal for people in wheelchairs or scooters, as well as families with push chairs. Parking and toilet facilities will be available, as well as hot and cold drinks at both start and finish.

The total distance is about 10K/ 6.2 miles and rotary stewards will be in strategic positions along the route to direct walkers in the right direction, and to provide a first point of contact in case of difficulty.

The PUMA Derwentwater Trail Race and Puma Derwentwater Challenge is a 14km course through some of the most scenic and varied countryside in the Lake District. Last year's event received a 96% overall approvals rating from the readers of Runnersworld magazine.

Starting and finishing in Keswick, the PUMA Derwentwater Trail Race and Puma Derwentwater Challenge is a 14km circuit along well marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways takes in panoramic views of Lake Derwentwater and the surrounding peaks of the Skiddaw and Blencathra range and the northern lakeland fells.

North West Air Ambulance is looking for runners to take part in this 5K fun run to help raise much needed funds to support our 2 life-saving helicopters.

Fun Run Route:

The magnificent Sefton Park has been compared to New York’s Central Park such is the grandeur of its parkland. The run starts and finishes at the Parade playing fields. At 269 acres (108 ha) it is the city's largest urban park and the run takes full advantage of the vast expanse. Wide tarred pathways dissect the park either side of the lake. The route is flat throughout. Please note the route is subject to change.

Start/Finish area:

The start/finish area is located at the north end of Sefton Park. This is a short distance from where Croxteth Drive intersects with Mossley Hill Drive. The start/finish area will be indicated by a large inflatable archway.

We'll be holding an Antique Valuation day on Saturday, 10 July 2010, at our Southport charity shop, Marble Place, Tulketh Street. Frank Marshall Valuers of Knutsford, who have previously appeared on TV will be carrying out valuations for the bargain price of £1.

Tockholes Gala and Fell Race 2010

The annual Tockholes Gala and Fell Race will be taking palce on 3rd July 2010 and this year we are pleased to announce that their chosen charity is the North West Air Ambulance.

A rural village high in the West Pennine Moors between Blackburn and Bolton the annual gala will be held at St Stephen's school field and will keep the traditional format of local stalls and attractions.

The Tockholes Fell Race will take place during the day and is being organised by the Darwen Dashers.

On Thursday 24th June Jeff Denison and his pal Neil Birch will be setting of to cycle from London to Paris in a bid to raise funds for the North West Air Ambulance.

Covering around 300km in just 3 days, the super fit pair will aim to arrive at the Eiffel Tower on Sunday 27th June after encountering the historic towns and sleepy villages enroute to the French capital.

Father of two Jeff, who is a self employed pipe fitter and welder by day said,"I have done a lot of fundraising for various charities and I am looking forward to doing the bike ride in aid of the air ambulance."

Neil, a self employed painter and decorator from Grange-over-in Sands added, "I am looking forward to raising as much money as possible."

Local playground equipment suppliers Playdale Playgrounds are sponsoring the pair. The guys are also involved with running their local football team but took time out from their busy schedules to visit the airbase and meet with the crew.

Dragon Boat Racing and the Challenge

Dragon Boat racing is an ancient Chinese tradition and the fastest growing water activity in Britain today - as well as the most fun! Up to 10 people paddle each 30’ boat with a drummer at the front beating time and a helm at the tail steering a straight course. No previous experience is required, just plenty of team spirit!
The Rotary Club of Lunesdale is working with Gable Events to bring its third annual Charity Dragon Boat Challenge to Halton Training Camp on the River Lune near Lancaster on Sunday 6th June 2010.
The event is open to everyone and 28 crews will be battling it out over a 200m course. The training camp offers a superb venue for racing and a fabulous day is guaranteed for spectators and competitors alike. Most teams set up a gazebo as a base and bring a picnic, but there will also be plenty of food and non-alcoholic drinks on offer too.

There will also be a chance to get up close to the NWAA rescue helicopter and rapid response vehicle, as well as traditional family side shows and a mystery celebrity – plenty for everyone!

Crews must comprise 8-10 paddlers plus a drummer - squads may be larger. Crews can be mixed, all female or all male and organisations may enter more than one crew. The minimum age is 12 years and no previous experience of dragon boat racing is required. All crew members must be able to swim 50 metres in light clothing and in moving water and compete entirely at their own risk. Qualified helms, buoyancy aids and water safety cover are provided by the organisers.

Entry Fees are £350 per crew (VAT not applicable).

Crews may have less than 11 members but there are no fee reductions for smaller crews. Entry includes:
• Dragon boats, qualified helms and all racing equipment
• At least 3 races per crew
• Trophy for the winning male and female crews and medals for the top three crews
• Prize for the crew raising the most money for charity
• Prize for the individual raising the most money for charity
• Souvenir event programme

Entries will be accepted on a first come, first served basis with full payment. No refunds will be given once an entry has been accepted.

Charity Sponsorship Each crew is asked to raise as much money as possible for our chosen charities, with £50 per person being the minimum expected. Official sponsor forms will be supplied with your entry confirmation and all sponsorship forms and money must be handed in to Race Control before your crew’s first race of the day.

Prizes will be awarded for the first, second and third-placed crews and for the crew and the individual handing in the most in sponsorship money on Race Day.
Rules Gable Events is an approved operator of the British Dragon Boat Racing Association (BDA) and the Challenge will be run under BDA Festival Rules and hold a BDA Race Permit. All crews accepted for entry must abide with the competition rules of the BDA and the entry details shown on this form. Each crew is guaranteed a minimum of 3 races (subject to weather conditions).

The Bupa London 10,000 is a 10k run which starts and finishes in St. James’s Park, London. It is presented by the London Marathon Company and is run on the course likely to be used for the 2012 Olympic Marathons.

The race starts on Birdcage Walk and follows an anti-clockwise route around the City of Westminster and the City of London via Parliament Square, Embankment, Blackfriars Bridge, Queen Victoria Street, Cannon Street, Great Tower Street, Crutched Friars, Fenchurch Street, Leadenhall Market, Cornhill, Queen Victoria Street, Puddle Dock, Embankment, Horseguards Avenue, Whitehall and via Trafalgar Square to the Finish in The Mall.

Runners pass many of London’s famous sights, including Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, The London Eye, Cleopatra’s Needle, Tate Gallery, Millennium Bridge, The Monument, Lloyds of London, Leadenhall Market, Bank of England, Mansion House, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Horseguards, Nelson's Column and Admiralty Arch. Buckingham Palace acts as the backdrop to the start and finish.

North West Air Ambulance has a limited number of guaranteed places for this event and we are looking for runners to take part and raise much needed funds to support our 2 life-saving helicopters. All we ask is for a non-refundable registration fee of £20.00 and minimum sponsorship of £200.00. All runners will receive a charity pack containing a t-shirt, training advice, fundraising tips and sponsor forms.

North West Air Ambulance: NWAA Pro Celebrity Golf Challenge

The North West Air Ambulance charity (NWAA) is pleased to announce the details of its first golf day at the brand new championship North West National Golf Club (pictured above) in Rainford, Merseyside.

The Jeremy Kyle Golf Classic is the first golf challenge to be held by the air ambulance and will also be televised by Sky Sports TV. To add to the occasion each team will also be featured at some point throughout the event and will get to take home a DVD as a memento of the day.

Twenty teams, which will consist of 3 players and 1 celebrity or golf professional (which will be allocated on the day) will take part in a Stableford competition with players playing off full handicaps.

The day begins at 12pm with refreshments on arrival and a chance for everyone to mingle and meet with their competitors. Then it's time to get serious with a shotgun start at 1pm. Time will tell if the next Nick Faldo or Tiger Woods are among the teams taking part or if they are just there to enjoy the scenery!

The day will conclude with an evening awards dinner with the victorious team receiving their dues. A 3-course meal and live entertainment will put the finishing touches to what we are sure will be an action packed event.

Granada TV's Paul Crone is kayaking across the English Channel in a bid to raise £15,000 for the air ambulance. Join him and a host of celebrities from TV and radio at this not to be missed evening of entertainment.

Lakeland Trails are some of the most scenic and inspiring running and walking events in the UK, for all ages and abilities, held within the iconic landscape of the Lake District National Park. A festive, family-friendly, carnival atmosphere awaits you at every venue.

Starting in Hawkshead village, the 15km PUMA Hawkshead Trail Race and PUMA Hawkshead Challenge follows a circuit along well marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways takes in panoramic views of Lake Windermere and the surrounding peaks of the Coniston Hills, the Langdales and most of the Lakeland fells. Underfoot conditions are generally good, for those used to off-road running.
