Andrew Stone, lead singer of the pop band Starman made famous on the Sky 1 smash hit documentary show, is to be an ambassador for the North West Air Ambulance Charity.
Starman are headlining at Manchester’s Moho Live venue on June 6th in support of the charity, to raise awareness of the crucial service the Air Ambulance provides in the region.
The makers of Pineapple Dance Studios will be filming the band when they visit Manchester for this exclusive gig on Tib Street.
Starman have been catapulted to fame as fans have watched them become famous in their quest to get fame and fortune on the cult series which was adored by eight million viewers.
The night will be hosted by Galaxy Breakfast DJ Wingman and some very special VIP guests.
This is the chance for all the Starman fans to dress in the 'Starman' style for a chance to win a date with the band and a hamper of make up from cult celebrity loved brand Art Deco. There is also a prize to win a private dance lesson with Andrew at the world-famous Pineapple Dance Studios in Covent Garden.
The pop five-piece will be supported by two hot bands from the North West; “Our Innocence Lost” from Manchester, and from Preston, “Next Stop Atlanta”
There will also be a special performance from Manchester based singer/actor Marcquelle Ward and a guest appearance from Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan who recently retained her crown of ‘sexiest female’ at the 2010 British Soap Awards.
Andrew said: “I am really excited that Starman are coming to Manchester and play at Moho Live because the band has had some incredible support from northerners.
I support the North West Air Ambulance charity because a dear friend of mine was in a car crash near Bolton two years ago, and the helicopter was there within a matter of minutes to help her.
Fortunately her injuries were minor but it so easily could have been a different story.
I was surprised when I was found out that the two helicopters are supported by a charity and not government funded, and they cost over four million pounds a year to run and maintain.
The band and I want to raise as much money on the night in support of this great cause as we possibly can. We will put on a right show for all the fans!”
Lynda Brislin, Charity Chief Executive, said: "We are very grateful to Starman for choosing to support the North West Air Ambulance charity.
“The money we receive from their performance at Moho and the publicity the charity gets from the ongoing support of band, help us to raise the profile of our charity and also encourage others to support this life-saving cause."
