Pro-celebrity golf classic gets the thumbs up!

The very first North West Air Ambulance charity Jeremy Kyle pro-celebrity golf classic took place on Friday 28th May and what a day it turned out to be.

Helicopter at golf day
Exceeding all expectations, twenty teams consisting of 3 players and 1 celebrity or golf professional took to the newly opened championship course at the North West National Golf ClubRainford, Merseyside.

Following the recent bad weather it was a relief to see the sun shining through and it seemed to set the scene for the day. The arrival of the NWAA helicopter brought a smile to everyone's face and many took the opportunity to have their photo's taken with the crew.

Both players and celebrities alike eagerly awaited the shotgun start and then the competition began. The course itself is not the easiest and has been designed to challenge even the most talented of golfers. To add to the nerves, Sky Sports were also following the event and managed to interview each of the teams pre-start and get a shot of them in action, which will be aired at a later date (we'll let you know when - just keep checking back here).

Charity chief executive Lynda Brislin said "Our first Golf Classic event raised a magnificent £50k and this would not have been possible without the generosity of our supporters and local businesses who took part. I would personally like to thank everyone for their support, the day was a huge success and one we hope to repeat again next year."

Copyrite, winning team

The day concluded with an evening awards dinner with the victorious team Copyrite from Speke (pictured above) receiving their well deserved winners trophies.  A 3-course meal and live entertainment put the finishing touches to this action packed and enjoyable event.

Kelvin Fletcher winner of best celebrity score
Kelvin Fletcher walked away with the title of highest celebrity score of the day and is pictured receiving his champagne prize.

Thank you once again to Jeremy Kyle and to everyone who took part and we look forward to doing it all again next year.
