3M sets employees charitable cycle challenge

Posted: 3rd April 2009

A cheque for £1000 has been presented to the North West Air Ambulance thanks to the pedal power of employees at at the 3M site at Clitheroe.

3M staff present North West Air Ambulance representative Joanne Fowler with a cheque for £1000The money was raised through a week-long challenge using four exercise bikes that had been borrowed from a local gym.

For every five minutes of pedalling 3M donated £1 to that charity and when the total reached the £500 benchmark the company match funded the rest.

The 3M site  site makes valves and components for asthma inhalers.  Safety engineer Stephen Hanna commented  "We had a great response and most people joined in at some time during the week.  It was all for a good cause in raising money for the Air Ambulance but also helped people to think about taking exercise themselves"

We would like to thank all the staff at 3M in Clitheroe for their excellent fundraising efforts.
