NWAA MINI Break

Posted: 2nd October 2009

The hunt is on for the region’s noisiest snorer…turning zzzzz’s into ££££’s for a vital charity.

The North West Air Ambulance is searching for sensationally loud snorers, and is asking long suffering partners to help raise money to keep the region’s two emergency helicopters flying. North West Air Ambulance representative Ged Jones takes a nap in the MINI donated by Bowker

A peaceful night in a luxury hotel awaits the wife, husband, boyfriend or girlfriend who captures their loved one’s snoring on video, proving they have the most to put up with.

And a mini break with a difference awaits the North West’s noisiest night-owl….a night sleeping in a brand new MINI Hatchback!

Bowker MINI of Preston and Blackburn has kindly provided the air ambulance with a new specially painted bright yellow MINI to match the colour of the air ambulance.

The vehicle will be driven around the region and will make guest appearances at shows and events throughout the summer to help fundraising.

People who try to sleep each night with a partner who sounds like they’re sawing wood are being invited to capture the snoring on their mobile phone or video camera.

For each video sent in, Bowker MINI Preston and Blackburn will donate money to the Charity.

Charity Chief Executive Lynda Brislin said, "It’s not often people can raise money for the air ambulance as they’re fast asleep, so we’d love as many snorers and their long suffering partners as possible to get involved in this fundraising scheme.”

Paul Bowker, Bowker Motor Group Chief Executive adds: “The idea to donate a MINI Hatchback originally came from members of staff as it’s a charity close to the hearts of the motor trade.  We are delighted to be able to support the North West Air Ambulance and hope our MINI will make a big impact.”

To help the charity, and win a night in a top hotel, partners should upload their snoring videos onto Youtube, Facebook or other social networking sites, and then email their details and the link to enquiries@northwestairambulance.com

A panel of judges will stay awake all night to choose the conquering conk that makes the most noise.

You can upload your videos to any of the sites below and email us a link.

Lights, Camera, ACTION!!!

Quick Guide: Recording mobile phone video

Often not as complicated as first thought, this usually involves setting your phone to camera mode, then switching from still photo to video mode.

Starting and stopping the recording is usually done by pressing the Enter button on the phone's main keypad, although if there is a dedicated photo shutter button on the phone this will be the most likely option.

Your camera phone will probably automatically save your video as you stop recording.  To ensure this is the case check the main menu for a save option.

Once you have saved your video to your handset you can upload it to your PC.  This will require a wired USB cable compatibile with your phone or a Bluetooth wireless connection.

You can save the clip as an MP4 file to your hardrive or portable USB stick.

Uploading video to You Tube couldn't be simpler.  Simply create an account and follow the step by step instructions.  Once the clip is successfully loaded, email a link of the video to our Video Studio and we will upload it to our website.
